I am currently the president of the UMD chapter of the Society of Physics Students. I am looking forward
to being president for my senior year!
This past year, I was the outreach chair for our chapter, and had a lot of fun! I helped organize
lots of guest lectures from professors, and other fun activities. We had speakers tell us about
particle physics, quantum mechanics, and teaching, including a talk from Nobel Laureate Bill Phillips.
We also had one professor teach us to play Mahjong which was lots of fun too.
In addition to SPS, I was inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma, the national physics honor society, this past Spring.
I also helped organize the 2025 SPS Zone 4 meeting, which was hosted at UMD.

Coursework
Physics
My favorite physics class was Quantum Physics 1, which covers topics including the two state system,
harmonic oscillator, free particles, and the hydrogen atom. This was the class that really got me interested
in and excited about quantum.
I have also taken Quantum Physics 2, which covered perturbation theory, angular momentum,
more detailed models of the hydrogen atom, and some other topics including symmetric and antisymmetric wavefunctions,
and scattering.
I have also taken a Statistical Mechanics class, which covered classical thermodynamics including entropy,
heat, and work, as well as topics including Bose-Einstein statistics, Fermi-Dirac statistics, and Debye temperatures.
I additionally took an upper level elective on particle astrophysics, where we learned some basic particle
physics, and studied many of the different ongoing particle astrophysics experiments.
I have also completed my introductory physics courses: Mechanics, Introductory E&M, Mechanics Lab, Circuits Lab,
Oscillations and Waves, Modern Physics, and Electrostatics.
Mathematics
I am not a math major, but something of a math enthusiast. I have taken quite a few additional math classes for fun,
and I am particularly interested in abstract algebra and it's relation to physics.
One of my favorite math classes ever was group theory, where I learned all about the theory of
finite groups.
I have also taken a class in abstract linear algebra, which was particularly enlightening since I took
it alongside quantum. We studied vector spaces, linear transformations, eigenvalues, eigenvectors, eigenspaces,
spectral theorems, and Jordan forms.
Another math class that I loved was field theory, where I learned about rings, domains, field extensions,
and eventually Galois theory and the insolubility of the quintic.
I have also taken Euclidean and Non Euclidean Geometry, which was fun, as well as my intro math classes:
Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Intro to Linear Algebra, and Ordinary Differential Equations.
I also participated in SSTPRS which functioned a bit like a math class (among many other things).
Some other stuff
I was active in UMD's chapter of Engineers Without Borders for my first couple of years at UMD.
From 2024 to 2025 I served as our chapter's treasurer, managing money and resources for several ongoing projects.
I helped to design water and sanitation infrastructure for communities in Nakifuma, Uganda and in Guatemala.
I helped to plan the QURISE conference as part of the local organizing committee. My role was to help organize lab tours and a poster session.
During the summer of 2024 I worked with UMD archivists to locate images and documents for use in an upcoming
book writen by a member of the Piscataway Tribe on the tribe's culture and history.
